Born in Philadelphia, Len graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a PhD in Physics and spent most of his career as a Professor at Drexel University. He was a mentor to many. He created paintings, pottery, wood carvings, leatherwork, stereo equipment, grandfather clocks, telescopes, a boat and string instruments. He built and flew a glider with his father and more recently enjoyed flying radio model airplanes. He was a marksman with a bow and arrow and a ham radio operator. A soft spoken and loving man with a kind word for all, he was most proud of his family. He was a true “mensch.”
Leonard is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Frances L. Cohen, living in Sun City West, Arizona. His children are Sara (Eric) Lautenbach, Judith (Robert) Talis, Benjamin (Arlene) Cohen with grandchildren Rebecca (Timothy) Ogilvie, Amy (Tyler) Derby, Michelle Talis, Emily Talis, Nathaniel Cohen, David Cohen and great grandchildren Mila and Kenzie Ogilvie and Jack Derby.
