On March 11, 1989, Linsay Maria McAllister was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Minister Keith McAllister and Maria Mae Patricia Mial McAllister. As an infant, she was diagnosed with epilepsy which later developed into complications with cerebral palsy. In spite of her disability, Linsay’s vibrant personality always shined through. She was a loving daughter, sister, and friend. Linsay’s life would seem too short to many, but those she touched understand that the quality of her life far exceeded the quantity of time she was with us. Her infectious smile could melt the hearts of all those around her. Linsay enjoyed all music, but gospel was her favorite, and she often broke out in her signature shoulder shimmy whenever her favorite songs were sung. She also loved the actor Johnny Depp, or “Jack Sparrow'' to be more precise. Her mom often had to replace one of the Pirates of the Caribbean DVDs periodically due to wear and tear!
In July 2006, Linsay and her family moved to Fountain Hills, AZ, where she continued to participate in special education programs. As an active student, she enjoyed horseback riding, bowling, arts and crafts, and gardening. She later graduated from the ACCEL program and Fountain Hills High School in May 2011. Throughout her life, Linsay faced many physical and health challenges. However, she never allowed her disability to define her. She embraced each day with joy and love in her heart. On May 27, 2021, Linsay passed away at the All-Star Group Medical facility in Goodyear, AZ, after struggling with health issues for the past two months. Her presence in our lives will be sorely missed.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Maria; maternal and paternal grandparents, Sir Walter and Bertha Mial; and Wanico and Ruth McAllister. Linsay is survived by her father, Keith, stepmother Peggy, siblings Aaron and Melissa, aunts, Linda Johnson, Wanda Mial and Bernice Mial, uncles, Lloyd Johnson and Franklin McAllister, numerous cousins, and friends.
