Born in Brockton, Massachusetts, Lorraine lived a long and fulfilling life, devoted to her family and loved by all who knew her.
She was the beloved wife of the late Richard Blackwell, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and memories. Together, they built a beautiful family and a legacy of warmth, kindness, and unwavering support for those they loved.
Lorraine is survived by her children: Dennis and his wife Janet, Linda and her husband Chuck, Richard, Sandra and her husband Eric, Suzanne and her husband Michael, and Scott and his wife Kim. She was a cherished grandmother to Paul, Tracey, Lisa, Richard, Jennifer, David, Justin, Katie, Kayla, Eric, and Scott; a proud great-grandmother to LeAnna, Shawn, Sarah, Jenna, Curran, Piper, Ellie, Brooke, Mac, Owen, Dawson, Lindsey, Bella, and Scott, and a loving great-great-grandmother to Xavier.
She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, fierce devotion to her family, love for card games (especially when she was winning), and passion for baseball (where she was known to yell at the TV like the players could hear her). Lorraine’s life was one of quiet strength, quick wit, and unwavering love. She may have left us, but we’re pretty sure she’s already up there organizing a card game, keeping score, and making sure everyone plays by her rules. Being able to reunite with her beloved husband on Valentine’s Day brings her family so much peace. After 74 years of love, laughter, and the occasional well-timed eye roll, we know Richard was waiting for her with open arms—and probably a project that needed “just a little fixing.” While we will miss her dearly, the thought of them together again, sharing a toast (Keystone Light, of course), brings comfort to all who loved her.
A committal service in Lorraine’s honor will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at 11:00 AM at West Resthaven Memorial Cemetery 6450 W Northern Ave, Glendale, AZ 85301. Deacon Roy Drapeau will officiate the service as family and friends gather to celebrate her life and legacy.
Lorraine’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
