Passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 5, 2011 with her family in attendance. Born in China, she came to America as a teenager and earned degrees in business and mathematics. She had a long career as an educator at a private school in Alexandria, VA in both math and the Chinese language, having authored one of the first elementary school texts introducing the Mandarin language to English speakers. She later served as headmistress at the same school. She retired to Sun City West, AZ where she enjoyed travelling and volunteering at the local school and hospital. In 2009, she moved back to Virginia and lived with her son, Vincent, his wife, Teresa, and their two children, Joseph and Jonathan. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren as they grew and sharing in their accomplishments. In addition to her son and his family, she is survived by her brother, Eddie Wang, and her two sisters, Mary Lacson and Elizabeth Wang, and numerous nieces and nephews. Viewing will be held at Sunland Memorial Park, 15826 Del Webb Blvd, Sun City, Arizona, on Friday, May 20th, from 6 - 8pm with services being held on Saturday, May 21st, at 10am with a reception immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her name to the American Cancer Society or Evercare Hospice.
