Macie Lanier Reese

Macie Lanier Reese, age 82, of Peoria, AZ passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 3rd surrounded by her family. Macie was born in Texas to Clinton and Elizabeth Caldwell. She spent much of her youth in Alabama, Colorado, and Nebraska where she graduated from Omaha Central High School in 1952.

Macie moved to Rangely, Colorado in 1953 to work for Philips Petroleum. There she met her beloved husband of 62 years, Paul L. Reese. They both loved to dance to the big bands. Most recently cutting a rug at Tivoli Gardens in Sun City West.

Macie is survived by Paul, her sons Mark E. Reese (Deborah Laurion-Reese) of Longmont, CO, Stephen L. Reese of Seattle, WA, daughter Cynthia R. Reese-Toomey (Daniel T. Toomey) of Fountain Hills, AZ, granddaughter Stephanie V. Reese of Seattle, WA, and her beloved dog Reece.

Macie was devoted to raising her three children. She went to great lengths to make sure that every gathering was special, especially Christmas. Macie was very committed to her friends and loved entertaining. She enjoyed playing bridge and Mexican Train, reading, and cross-word puzzles. She loved to travel and often talked about her adventures in Spain and Mexico and especially loved the beach.

Private memorial services are being held by Macie’s family. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Desert Southwest Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association in her name.
