Margaret Ellen (nee Winters) Stack went to her heavenly home on April 22, 2018, five days after her 88th birthday. Mrs. Stack was born in Rochester, Minnesota and lived in Surprise, Arizona since 2004. Prior to moving to Surprise, she lived for 36 years in Anoka, Minnesota, most of them with her beloved husband for 31 years, James Martin Stack, Sr., who has been waiting for his “Peach” in heaven since 1986. Besides James Sr, she is preceded in death by her mother and father, Henry C. and Evelyn (Caspari) Winters.
Marge instilled in her children and grandchildren the love of travel. She started travelling as a teenager and worked summers at Yellowstone Park. After high school she attended the University of Minnesota, but her love of travel soon developed into a position as a flight attendant in the glamour days of the profession at NW Airlines where she flew for several years. She spent three months during the summer of 1953 travelling through Europe with her best girlfriends. In early 1954, she met Jim and they were married November 27, 1954 and settled in Minneapolis.
As the children arrived, her love of travel never waned and the family took adventurous camping trips to Mt. Rushmore, Winnipeg, Yellowstone, Glacier Park, Arizona and many trips to Superior, Wisconsin to visit the extended Stack family. In her later years she travelled to Hawaii, Bahamas, annual Winters’ family reunions nationwide and while in her 80s, took an extended cruise with the St. Clement's choir to the Mediterranean, Egypt and Israel. She was planning an Alaskan cruise in May when heaven decided to book her last and greatest adventure.
Marge leaves behind her five beloved children: Kathleen Goodman (Rick), James Martin Stack Jr. (fiancée Vanessa), Thomas, Virginia, and Peter (Michelle) and 10 darling grandchildren: Paul Goodman, Stephanie Goodman, Michael Stack, Matthew Stack, Andrew Stack, Amara Stack, Marie Stack, Alec Stack, Ayden Stack and Nick Stack. She also leaves her loving brother, Charles Peter Winters (Kay); four incredible sisters, Wyn, Jeanette, Marilyn and Ardith; sister-in-law Alice Stack; and many nieces and nephews.
Marge also had a great passion for animals and is undoubtedly now enjoying being with the many cats and dogs (and canaries, bunnies, chickens, etc.) that she cherished during her lifetime.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church in Sun City, AZ on Saturday April 28, 2018 at 11:00 AM. Viewing will be held at 10:00 AM. Burial and a celebration of her life will take place in Anoka, Minnesota in September.
