Obituary of Margot Roberta Hoffman
IN THE CARE OF

Sunland Memorial Park, Mortuary & Cremation Center

Margot Roberta Hoffman, 76, passed away on January 19, 2026. She was born on October 16, 1949.

To me, she was simply Mom — steady, observant, and quietly strong. She didn’t need much to be content. A good walk, her dogs at her side, and the open road were enough. Dogs were a constant in her life, and she cared for them with patience and devotion, finding comfort in their companionship and routine.

She especially loved traveling through the Rocky Mountains and the Black Hills with John and their dogs, returning often to places defined by wide skies, long roads, and a quiet sense of peace. Those landscapes suited her well. She appreciated beauty without needing to explain it, and she found comfort in motion, distance, and familiarity.

My mother valued loyalty, independence, and showing up when it mattered. She lived her life in a way that was honest and unassuming, and she taught those around her—especially me—that strength doesn’t need to announce itself.

Margot was preceded in death by her husband, John Hoffman, whom she loved deeply and carried with her always. She is survived by her son, Jaimie Gargas, and his partner Tori; her grandchildren, BreAnne Froese and Wyatt Trevithick; her sister, Jana Gannon; her brother Daniel Sears and his wife Jeane; her brother David Sears and his wife Jodie; and her brother John Sears and his wife Linda.

Margot is deeply missed, and she is carried forward in the memories, habits, and quiet moments she shaped.

A private gathering to celebrate Margot’s life will be held. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to a charity supporting pet rescue efforts, such as the National Humane Society.
