He then attended the University of Omaha where he played football. He was a member of the undefeated 1955 team that played in the Tangerine Bowl in Orlando Florida. Marvin completed his Masters in Education at the University of Northern Colorado. He also served in the Army Reserves.
Marvin married his high school sweetheart, Arlene, on August 19, 1955. They moved to Phoenix Arizona in 1964 when Marvin took a teaching and coaching position at Alhambra High School. Marvin taught at Alhambra until his retirement in 1995. Even after retirement, Marvin continued his coaching tenure at Alhambra and then eventually became an assistant JV softball coach at Sunrise Mountain High School in Peoria in 2001.

He went to every game, dance recital, award ceremony, livestock show or Taekwondo class that he could to show his love and support for his grandchildren. He was a kind and loving husband, dad and grandpa.
