Mary L Nelson

Mary was born on June 26, 1926 in Marion, Illinois to Eugene Antoine Armstrong and Louella Scurlock. She was raised in a loving home and grew up in Missouri.

She was married to Jerome Combs until his passing in 1973. She was later remarried to Herbert Nelson on Dec. 7th, 1975 in Placer, California. She worked as an X-Ray Assistant at San Antonio Hospital in Upland, CA.

Mary and Herb became “snowbirds” from the 80’s to 1998 between Arizona and Salem, Oregon. She & Herb bought their home in Sun City, AZ in 1998 and resided there for the rest of their years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Louella and Eugene Armstrong and her step father Edward Hedges, by her siblings Betty, Lillian, Louella, her brother Bill, and step son, the late Michael Nelson.

She will be missed by her son Jerome Combs Jr. (Jerry) and his wife Diane, grandchildren Daniel, Desiree, Jennifer, her husband Eric Walz, and their daughter Sol, John Nelson, his wife Megan and their daughter Riley, all of her nieces, nephews and her many friends.

A funeral service will be celebrated on Tuesday, Dec, 2nd, 2025 at 11am at the, American Lutheran Church of Sun City.
