

Merland L. Christian was born on January 29,1920 on his parents farm in Haynes, ND. He passed away at the Veterans Hospital in Phoenix, AZ on November 5, 2012. He took over the operation of the family farm in 1951 and continued to run it up until his passing. He loved farming and it was a great part of his life. As a young man he joined the CCC and went to Cedar City, Utah and worked several projects there. He came home and then joined the US NAVY where he served as a cook. He then came home and married Vivian Harmeson of Minot, ND. They shared 57 years together until Vivian’s passing. He was a member of the Haynes community and served on several boards for the community. He was also a member of the Lemmon Church of God where he served as a board member many times.
Merland was a generous man, always eager to help, if he could be of assistance to anyone he graciously gave.
He is survived by his three children, Kayleen Weaver, Sun City, AZ; Gary and his wife Bobbie, Peoria, AZ; Jerenda and her husband Paul Ford, Glendale, AZ. His wife of 10 years, Virginia, Sun City, AZ. 6 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren. Two brothers, Lloyland Christian, Sun City, AZ; Larry Christian, Spokane, WA; two sisters, Deloris Huber, Lemmon, SD; Zola Finch, Lemmon, SD. He was preceded in death by his wife Vivian, his mother and father, three sisters and two brothers and a grandson Christian Moe.
Memorial Service, Saturday , November 10, 2012 at 10:00 am will be at Cathedral Christian Center, 16635 N. 51st Avenue, Glendale, AZ with Pastor Donald Price, Officiating. A nicheside committal will be November 19, 2012 at 1 pm, Sunland Memorial Park, Garden of Valor.
