

Mit was born on June 9, 1921, in Sinai, South Dakota. He served in the Signal Corp. of the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mit married Helen Sykora in 1946. Using the G.I. Bill, he attended the Capital Radio Engineering Institute in Washington, D.C. During this time his daughter Carol was born. After graduation, they relocated to Glenview, IL.
In 1950 Mit began a thirty-year career with the American Broadcasting Company, serving as a television engineer with WLS-TV in Chicago.
Mit retired in 1980 and moved to Sun City, AZ. His interests included ballroom dancing, astronomy, and amateur “ham” radio, especially the daily and weekly check-ins sponsored by local and state organizations. His wife Helen died in 1989.
The following year he married June Pulley. They traveled extensively throughout Europe, Canada, and Australia. Mit continued to participate in Sun City activities, which included memberships in the photo explorers club and video-travel club. His wife June passed away in 2006.
Throughout his life Mit remained proud of his Viking heritage, though he was a loyal fan of the Chicago Cubs! While keeping active with local groups, Mit especially enjoyed Saturday night pizza, the Lawrence Welk TV show, and Sunday evening concerts at the Sun Bowl.
He will be missed.
