Murial Annette Englund Davis was born in Alexandria, Minnesota on July 4, 1937. She was the fifth child born to Conrad and Florence Lee Englund. Murial attended elementary and middle school in a one-room schoolhouse in Douglas County, Minnesota. She was in the graduating class of 1955 from Alexandria High School. Following her high school education, she attended St. Cloud State University and acquired a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. Murial began her teaching career in Little Falls, Minnesota. She then taught in Tucson, Arizona; Aurora, Colorado; Phoenix, Arizona; Salome, Arizona and Wenden, Arizona.
She married George Davis from Prospect Valley, CO on January 2, 1965 in Tucson, AZ. The couple moved to Minnesota in 1967 where they both taught in public schools. In 1981 they moved their family to Arizona. Murial and George owned a real estate company along with a real estate school in the Phoenix metropolitan area. In 1990, the couple returned to their love for teaching school. Murial retired from teaching in 1997. The couple enjoyed spending their retirement years in Prescott and Sun City.
At the age of six years old, Murial accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. She viewed this as her greatest accomplishment in life. One of Murial’s favorite passage was Proverbs 3:5 & 6. She often stated that our understanding is earthly, and that God always has a plan. Murial felt a calling to minister through music. After forty years of not playing the tenor saxophone, she felt a desire to play again. She was a member in the Sun City Concert Band for ten years along with the church orchestras at Prescott First Church of the Nazarene, Evangel Church-Assemblies of God and Church on the Green-Assemblies of God.
Murial went to be with the Lord on December 21, 2019. She “fought the good fight, finished the course” and kept her faith in Jesus. She is survived by her husband George Davis of Sun City, AZ; daughter Victoria Davis Lestelle, grandchildren Hunter Lestelle and Olivia Lestelle of Los Alamitos, CA; daughter Deborah Davis Smith, son-in-law Jason Smith, grandchildren Jasmine Pierce, Ian Smith and Conner Smith of Peoria, AZ; four nephews, seven nieces and their children. Murial was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Donald Englund and Raymond Englund, and sisters Marlys Englund Wold and Helen Englund Blossom.
