Orvetta was born in Mackinaw, Illinois and grew up in the Peoria, Illinois area. She married her high school sweetheart, Bill (William E.), to whom she was married 61 wonderful years. After WWII, they moved to the Chicago area where they built their own house. Orvetta helped nail the singles on the roof, put in all the insulation and even became an expert at spackling. Sewing was also a passion for Orvetta; clothes and quilts especially. She was always a doer and rarely a spectator in life.
In 1979, she was finished with the Chicago winters and moved to Arizona. Once retired, she was an active member of the Sun City PRIDES as well as a volunteer at the West Side Food Bank Thrift Store. Grace Bible Church was her church home in Sun City.
Her greatest joy was being a great grandmother. She would show their photos to her friends and anyone who came to visit. You could see the pure love and joy in her face when she spoke of them.
She is survived by her daughter Barbara and son-in-law Lee Saberson of Carmel, Indiana; two granddaughters: Amanda (Nick) King and Laura (David) Aerne; four great grandchildren: Maya and Will King, Nate and Amelie Aerne; sister-in-law Margaret Hari; sister/brother-in-law Peggy & Goldie Hanson and several nieces and nephews. Her sister, Lucille Booth, preceded her in death.
Orvetta’s family wishes to extend special thanks to everyone for their outpouring of prayers and support during her courageous battle with melanoma.
A memorial celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 PM on Jan 6, 2018 at Freedom Plaza Independent Living Center, 13373 Plaza Del Rio Blvd., Peoria, AZ 85381.
