We met Pat only a few times.  What a great lady!

Dear Carol and Julie,
I was so very sorry to hear of your Mother's death.  I recently lost my Dad.  There isn't a day goes by that I don't think of him and miss him.  My thoughts are with you in this dark time.   I hope you will find comfort in the days and years to come in the memories you have of your Mom.  The pain doesn't go away, but there is a complicated peace in remembering the laughter, the expressions, the words of someone you loved and will always love.

R.I.P grandma! I will always love you. I don't have a single bad memory of you. Whenever we where together, it was always fun. A lot of times you thought I was bored or just being polite, but I was really happy just to be spending time with you. I'm really going to miss you beyond words. I just wish I came to say goodbye early in the morning when you where visiting before you left to go back to Arizona, but I really didn't think that would be the last time I got to hug you and talk to you face to face. I LOVE YOU GRANDMA!

My deepest sympathy to Ray and the family.  Pat and I exercised together 1 hour, 5 mornings a week for several years.  I came to know Pat and her whole family as she told story after story about herself and the family.  We laughed a lot and sometimes cried.

The love of family,genealogy, traveling with Ray and a love of books are some of the things that describe Pat.  She was a very remarkable woman who was a delight to be around.

Pat, I admired so much for your strength and thoughtfulness.  I'll always miss you.

Pat was such a lady...a person who did not call attention to herself. Projects she took on were done tastefully and to perfection, such as cooking, decorating, planning trips and parties, genealogy, gifting, and more. Pat was very thoughtful.  My mother Ann often remarked, "Pat is so good to me." She did not complain when ill. This is when she became determined to overcome setbacks. And she overcame more than her share. Other words come to mind when thinking about my sister-in-law: smart, devoted, wise, beautiful, quiet. She touched many lives.  You are missed, Pat.  Respect & love,  Kay

Patricia Ann (McMahon) Foster, age 77, much-loved wife, mother, sister, and friend died peacefully on Saturday, September 5, 2015, at Banner Hospice in Sun City West, Arizona. She was born March 23, 1938, in Mason City, Iowa, the daughter of Thomas and Mary McMahon. 

Pat spent her youth in Wesley and Pocahontas, Iowa. After graduating from Pocahontas Catholic High School in 1956, she attended the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa, where she met her best friend and love of her life, Raymond S. Foster of Aledo, Illinois. In 1959, they married and soon settled in Aledo where Pat worked as a secretary and Ray as a pharmacist. It was in Aledo that their three daughters and one son were born.

The family moved to Princeton, Illinois, in 1966. In addition to raising their four children, Pat worked as a children's librarian in Princeton at both Lincoln Elementary School and Matson Public Library. Pat was active in the League of Women Voters and Beta Sigma Phi. She enjoyed reading, bridge, camping, and exploring family genealogy. Pat relished traveling with Ray. Together, they saw most of the US, including Hawaii and Alaska, visited Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Panama, Mexico, many Caribbean countries, and drove their RV across Canada.

She is survived by her four children: Rae Foster and Julie Foster of Moline, Illinois; Paul Foster of Phoenix, Arizona; Carol Foster (David Flory) of Goodyear, Arizona; three grandchildren: Megan Foster, Nicole (Joshua) Sides, Zavier Foster, as well as, one great-grandchild: Ayla Sides. She is also survived by four siblings: Mary Lou Rosacker of Mason City, Iowa; Richard (Sonna) McMahon of Latimer, Iowa; Jean (Larry) Bell and James (Laurel) McMahon of Garner, Iowa. She leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends. 

Preceding her in death are her mother and father, Mary (Kent) and Thomas McMahon, father-in-law, Charles Foster, brother-in-law, Gene Rosacker, sister-in-law, Sue (Foster) Stewart, brother-in-law, Mike Stewart, and nephew, Tanner Pals.

The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her during her illnesses. A memorial will be held in Iowa at a later date.

I was fortunate enough to marry into the Foster family. Pat welcomed me right away without any judgment. She accepted me as I was.
I always respected her for her thoughtfulness, being a good listener and many other attributes too numerous to list off. But the biggest impression she left on me was that I was part of the family from day one.
Pat--your spirit and adventure will live on with me for the rest of my days. Rest peacefully,
