

Raymond Vincent Camp Jr., 92, passed away November 17, 2017. Memorial service is at St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church, Sun City on May 30, 9AM. Committal with military honors is at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 11AM. Reception will follow at Sunland Mortuary of Sun City at 12PM.
At the age of twelve Raymond went to seminary and had attended St. Joseph College in Collegeville, Indiana. At the age of 17 he joined the Navy, Coast Guard and served in the Merchant Marines. After his discharge from Marines he came to Phoenix, AZ around 1946. He met and married Irma Nell Goode and adopted Johnny; had another son, James; and daughter Jacalyn.
He remarried Jo Bell Newsom around 1954 and gained two daughters Pamela and Kathleen; also in their marriage they had Cynthia and Deborah.
Raymond worked successfully holding different jobs through the years. Each job obtained always lead to something better like Standard Oil of Phoenix and Cleveland Graphite. He was a great father, a very loyal man, a sense of humor until the end, and everyone enjoyed his company. He was a gentleman for whom everyone seemed to have a kind or humorous story to share about him. Raymond rarely failed to touch the lives of everyone he met in an amazing and positive way. Even in his final days he still kept his sense of humor. Steve with Americare Hospice truly enjoyed visits with Raymond. Steve would always visit when in the area so he could see Raymond. Raymond was humble and had deep relationship our Lord and never wavered even until his last breath.
Dad loved his family very much and when family and great-grandchildren visited he lit up with such joy. He had numerous grandchildren, twenty plus great and great great grandchildren.
Raymond is preceded in death by son, Johnny in 2014; his wife, Jo Bell Newsom in 2012 and a great grandson, Joshua Roberts.
