Rebecca OBanion Mercer

Rebecca Carol Mercer, lovingly known as Becky, was born on October 24, 1960, in St. Joseph, Missouri. On August 5, 2026. Just as the sun was rising over the horizon in Arizona, Becky peacefully left her earthly world.

Becky was a generous soul, always thinking about what she could give to others. She found joy in being thoughtful and giving, and she was especially loving toward her niece, Kendra. Her eyes would light up whenever she saw her nephew, Corey, whose presence brought her so much happiness.

Becky grew up surrounded by a large family and many cousins. She spoke of them often throughout the years and carried those memories with her wherever life took her. As her health declined, she was unable to spend the quality time with them that she so deeply desired, but her love for her family never faded.

As a young girl, Becky attended Hawthorn Grade School, Bode Middle School, and later graduated from Central High School. At the age of 19, she left her hometown of St. Joseph and moved to Scottsdale, Arizona, to be closer to family.

Becky worked in hospitality at the Pointe Resort for twenty years, there she met her husband to be, Troy Mercer. She loved the excitement and adventure that life in Arizona brought her. As she entered her forties, however, her heart began longing for the familiarity of her hometown and the family and memories she had left behind.

Now Becky is coming home not in the way she once wished, but to her final resting place at St. Joseph Memorial Park.

Becky is survived by her husband, Troy Mercer; mother, Elaine Archdekin OBanion, sister, Debra Wrey: brother, Gregg OBanion: nephew, Corey Bennett; and her niece, Kendra Nauman (Dustin). She is preceded in death by her father, William (Bill) OBanion.

Those who knew Becky will remember her generous heart, her thoughtfulness, her love of family and her precious yorkies and the light she brought to the lives of those around her. Though she is no longer with us in this earthly world, the memories she created and the love she gave will remain with her family and friends forever
