

Richard G. Fox, 93, passed away March 1, 2017 at Gardiner House Palliative Care Center in Phoenix, AZ where he spent his last week. He was born on August 15, 1923 in Glenwood, MN; graduated from high school in Cook, MN and served for four years in the Army Air Corps in the Pacific during WW II. In 1946, Dick married the love of his life, Elaine Kero, and the two remained married for 70 years, raising three daughters. During that time, Richard and Elaine owned and operated Fox Hardware in Cook. Richard also served many years as a volunteer fireman for the Cook Fire department.
After retirement, Dick and Elaine spent many enjoyable summers in their motor home traveling as far north as Alaska and as far south as Mexico. They often pursued Dick’s favorite hobby, fishing, especially on the lakes of northern Minnesota and often in the company of their beloved beagle, Punky.
In October 2016, Dick was honored by the Sun City American Legion as the longest serving member in Sun City, having contributed for 73 years.
Dick was predeceased by his parents, George Orvis Fox and Orda (Ledbetter) Fox; and his sister, Janet Dubois. He is survived by his wife, Elaine; daughters, Kathleen Mens (Tim), Susan Fox (Glen Johnson) of Lakeville, MN, and Sharon Fox (Jim Jenkins) of Cave Creek, AZ; grandchildren, Kacey Wiberg (Andy), Matthew Fox Johnson, Sam Fox Johnson of Lakeville, MN; and Shayna Washut (Zach) of Cave Creek, AZ; and two great grandchildren, Jaxon and Gavin Wiberg.
A committal service will be held this summer in Cook, MN and Dick will be laid to rest in the family plot at the Cook cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Sunland Mortuary and Memorial Park in Sun City, AZ.
