Robert D. Beckley, age 87, passed away on December 27, 2013 in Peoria, Arizona. A long time Ohio resident, Bob was born on October 4, 1926 in Kent and soon moved to Stow where he would spend the majority of his life. Bob met his future wife, Rosemary Capra, while attending Stow High School and after graduating, he enlisted in the United States Navy. He was a WWII Veteran and served aboard the USS Stokes from 1944 to 1946 while stationed in the Pacific. After his service in the Navy ended, on September 27, 1947, Bob and Rosemary were married. While raising his family, Bob became a well-known realtor, builder and businessman in Stow. He was president and owner of Bob Beckley Real Estate Company, a board member of Falls Savings and Loan, a member of the Stow Planning Commission, and was active with the Stow Athletic Boosters Club. Bob was also the charter president of the Stow Kiwanis Club, which he had helped found in the mid-1960s. Upon his retirement, Bob and Rosemary moved to Arizona in January of 1981. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Rosemary; his son Gary (Marlene) and daughter Joanie Drumwright (Dave); his grandsons Gary (Anna), Joseph (Kristin), and Matthew; his great-grandchildren Ella, Katie, Madelyn and soon to be additions of Emily, Michael and Ryan. He was preceded in death by his son Robert Jr. and his brother Jack. A private family service will be held.
