Robert Ruiz Saenz

"Robert Ruiz Saenz was born on September 10, 1961 in Glendale, Arizona to Basilio and Enemencia Saenz. Robert grew up in Arizona and California as the family travelled often for farming work. Upon graduation from Dysart High School in 1979, Robert joined the United States Army. He married his wife, Laurie, in 1980 and together, with their two daughters, they travelled to many different locations wherever the Army stationed them until they moved to Arizona in 1997.

Robert was a U.S. Army Medic and cherished his Army brothers. Notably, the soldiers stationed with him in Ft. Wainwright, Alaska held a special place in the memories of his service. He retired at the rank of Sergeant First Class after 20 years of service. After retirement, Robert worked for the U.S. Postal Service, volunteered for the Salvation Army, and, most recently, drove a school bus for elementary and middle school children.

Robert was a spiritual person who encouraged others to live a good and well-intentioned life. He was always willing to help those who asked for or needed help.

He quietly supported many people and never asked for recognition, acknowledgment, or anything in return. Robert enjoyed the outdoors, often traveling to Yosemite National Park during the summers. He liked to cycle on his road bike and ride his motorcycle.

Robert is preceded in death by his mother, Enemencia Saenz and his wife, Laurie Saenz. He is survived by his father, Basilio Saenz; sisters - Rosemary Saenz of El Mirage, Sylvia Saenz of El Mirage, Terri Ramirez (Rudy) of Sun City West, Diane Olivarria (Jerry) of El Mirage, & Susan Saenz of Litchfield Park; daughters - Melina Haas (Robert) and Jessica Ackley (Jason); grandchildren - Justin Haas, Sophia Ackley, Lauren Haas, Violet Ackley, Lydia Ackley; and many nieces and nephews whom he loved deeply."

Visitation will be held at Sunland Memorial Park, Mortuary & Cremation Center, 15826 Del Webb Blvd, Sun City, Arizona 85351, on July 16, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

A Funeral Service will take place at Sunland Memorial Park, Mortuary & Cremation Center, 15826 Del Webb Blvd, Sun City, Arizona 85351, on July 17, 2026, from 10:30 am to 11:30 am.

A Committal Service will follow at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 2929 E Pinnacle Peak Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85024, US, on July 17, 2026, from 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm.
