Ron was born October 26, 1948 in Springfield, Illinois, the son of Orland D. Myers and Mary E. (Crisp) Myers. He married Judy Myers on September 4, 1981 in Galesburg, Illinois.
Ron retired from Admiral, Magic Chef, Maytag, Whirlpool after 30 years of service. He started on the refrigeration line during one summer and stayed on as a line supervisor. He was promoted to Director of Distribution and retired from the position of Director of Materials. Ron oversaw the production of the last refrigerator in the Maytag plant in Galesburg, IL in 2004.
Ron enjoyed golf, fishing and gardening. He enjoyed fishing for big mouth bass and caught and released. It was his dream to catch a marlin. He was generous and always took his wife along while marlin fishing. His wife caught a blue marlin in Hawaii. It just happened to be her line in the water.
Ron is survived by his wife of 41 years, Judy of Arizona and his children, Brian and Melissa (Peters) Myers and his step children, Stacey (Swigart) Barnes and Stephanie (Swigart) Hawkins. He was grandfather to Colin and Jackson Myers, Broderick Stout, Aurora, Mia, and Phoebe Barnes.
Ron loved his corvettes. Over the years he belonged to the Glass Favorites Corvette Club, Midwest Corvette Club, Sun Country Corvette Club and Scottsdale Corvette Club. He “joined for the car but stayed for the people”. He was the governor in the Glass Favorites and Midwest club. He enjoyed the low speed autocross events. He watched the corners to be sure the drivers drove through the cones rather than around. After many years of working the event, he participated. He purchased a helmet and applied for racing numbers.
Ron had two holes in one during his golf play. One was witnessed, one was not.
Ron was 14 when he was awarded Eagle Scout.
