Ruby J. Hockey
November 20, 2020
In loving memory of Ruby, a strong woman who raised her son to be a caring, conscientious man. I just reviewed my 1973-5 diaries to share my first impressions of meeting Ruby; she had "a lovely home, a beautiful cat, and fixed chicken and pizza dinners" for Tom & me on a couple of occasions. Looking back now from the age she was then, I am sure she was concerned about her young son being too friendly with a girl whose parents had died and who was living in another state, but she still allowed him to call, write endless letters, and comfort me when I was lonely and far away, and I'll always be thankful for that. I'm also so thankful for our enduring friendship and for Yuliana who is there to comfort you in person. I'll be keeping you all in my thoughts today and every day. Love, Alice
