

Ruby (Graf) Cordle Lammers passed away peacefully on March 15, 2014 at the age of 93. Ruby was born on April 13, 1920 to Ernest and Ida May (Watson) Graf of Naponee, Nebraska. Ruby married her first husband Mick (Lester) Cordle on March 19, 1938 and they made their first home in Franklin Nebraska. The family moved to Alma Nebraska in 1943. Ruby was a stay at home mom until Mick was injured in a trucking accident in 1951 and Ruby went to work at the telephone company to support her family.
In 1957 the family moved to Kearney Nebraska and Ruby went to work for the GTE phone company in Kearney. GTE promoted Ruby to Assistant and then Chief Operator in 1972. Ruby stayed with GTE until she retired in 1983. Ruby’s first husband Mick Cordle died on July 1, 1979 after 41 years of marriage.
Ruby married Melvin Lammers on October 28, 1982 and continued to live in Kearney. They retired and moved to Orlanda FL in 1985 where they resided until 2006 moving to Sun City Arizona to be closer to family. Ruby and Melvin had 31 happy years of marriage.
Ruby is survived by her husband Melvin Lammers of Sun City, AZ, her son Jim Cordle of Homestead, FL, her daughter Jeanie (Cordle) Rayl of Sun City, AZ/Fargo, ND, daughter in law Pat Woodside, Stepsons Randy and Greg Lammers of Kearney, NE, 18 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by her first husband Mick (Lester) Cordle, son Bill Cordle, daughter Roberta (Bobbie Ann) Cordle Longfellow, grandson Mike Cordle, son-in-law Dick Rayl, son-in-law Steve Longfellow, her parents Ernest and Ida May Graf, six brothers and four sisters.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Sun City Christian Church at 9745 W. Palmeras Drive Sun City, AZ 85373 on March 25, 2014 at 10:30 am. There will also be a Celebration of Life Service at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral Home located at 2421 Avenue A, Kearney, NE 68847 and a graveside service in Alma, Nebraska.
