AUGUST 22, 1926 – JULY 27, 2018
Ruthann Hoffmann, 91, passed away on Friday July 27th 2018, in Sun City West, AZ.
Ruthann was born on August 22, 1926 in Cincinnati, Ohio to John and Dora Gardner. She attended Withrow High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. She met Frank Hoffmann during high school and they were married on September 14, 1946 in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
They raised their five children across the country as they moved for Frank’s job from Ohio to Illinois, Minnesota and Texas. In 1985, they retired to Sun City West, Az. From there they enjoyed traveling to visit family, friends, and attending Elderhostel programs.
Ruthann enjoyed an active lifestyle playing tennis and golf, learning lapidary and becoming an expert silversmith. Her sterling silver wishbone bracelet became a favorite of many. Volunteering was also a big part of her life. She loved sharing her talents with others. For many years both she and Frank volunteered as greeters at the Del Webb Hospital on weekend nights. Desert Palms Presbyterian Church was where most of her volunteering time was spent as she held many volunteer positions there. She found great joy in her time there from serving communion, to making quilts for the homeless, to counting the weekly offering. She truly was a special lady and every person she encountered was touched in some way by her tender and loving heart.
Survivors who miss her dearly include her four sons–Frank (Jessica) Hoffmann IV of Trophy Club, Tx., Bruce (Petra) Hoffmann of Branden, Fl., Douglas Hoffmann of Chicago, Il., and John (Tammy) Hoffmann of Vancouver, WA. Ruthann is also survived by five grandchildren—Amy, Alisa, Roxanne, Lauren, and Tristan, two great-grandchildren—Samantha and Owen, three step grandchildren—Angelica, Brittany, and Jim, and one step great-grandchild—Mackenna. Ruthann was proceeded in death by her husband Frank, and daughter Gail (Gary) Rohlk.
A celebration of her life will take place on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Desert Palms Presbyterian Church at 10:30 am. All are welcome to join and are encouraged to wear any jewelry Ruthann made for you.
