Sam D’Angelo, 99, of Sun City West, AZ passed away in Surprise, AZ in 2022. Sam was born in 1923 in Detroit, Michigan to Guiseppe and Dorothea (Ferrante) D’Angelo. He was one of five sons. During World War II, Sam served in the U.S. Army as a Staff Sergeant, Field Artillery. On September 16, 1950, Sam married Maria Ferreri. Sam and Maria moved from Mt. Clemens, MI to Sun City West after retiring in 1986. Sam stayed busy being an Usher at Our Lady of Lourdes, volunteering for St. Vincent de Paul, being a Past President of the Michigan Club and the Italian Club, playing on the Bocce Club, and dancing with Maria with the Hillcrest Dance Club.
Sam was predeceased by his parents and his four brothers: Placidus “Ed”, Joseph, John, and Ben. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 72 years, Maria; his daughters Dorothy (Henry) Van Tuyl of Michigan and Frances (Harold) Livera of Florida; his grandchildren Sharon (Joshua) Johnson, Mark (Danielle) Van Tuyl, Andrew Livera, and Matthew Livera; and sisters-in-law Rose DiAngelo and Shirley Ferreri.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at 1:15pm at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 19002 N. 128th Avenue, Sun City West, AZ 85375. The Funeral Mass will follow at 2:00pm.
