Shirley Boyle

Shirley Boyle was born on March 29, 1930, into a large farming family in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, Canada. She had four brothers and two sisters and was the last remaining member of that family. She is survived by her children: Bella Rahm of Okatie, SC; James (Ellen) of Sun City, AZ; Ellen Langan (Bob) of Peoria, AZ; and Judy Kelly (John) of West Seneca, NY; eight Grandchildren, and 12 Great-Children, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was proud of her Canadian and Scottish heritage, and lived in Saskatchewan and Ontario where she met the love of her life – John Boyle from County Donegal, Ireland. They married in 1952 and were happily together for 63 years. Job opportunities brought them to the Buffalo, NY area in 1954, and they became US citizens in 1959, and proceeded to raise their family together. In 1980 they relocated to Sun City, Arizona, where she lived an active life for the next 44-years.

She spent much of her life caring for her children and worked many years as a Nurse’s Aid in several hospital settings in the Western New York area. She was active in church activities, including singing in the choir, and had an affinity for music. Without any formal musical education, she could play nearly any song by only hearing it once or twice. She was a voracious walker throughout her entire life, logging many many miles. She was also a voracious charity Rosary-Maker for many years providing Rosaries to tens of thousands in poor communities throughout the world.

Her friendly & sweet disposition and capacity to carefully listen to others were evident to everyone she encountered. She endured many physical obstacles and was a tough fighter during her recovery periods. She was on top of local and world events and had a sharp mind right to the end. She will be sorely missed and was loved dearly. Rest in Peace.
