Born and raised in Waseca, MN, Susan was the daughter of Eugene Powell and Monna (Bonnie) Powell. She graduated from Waseca High School in 1966, where she was a proud and passionate member of the school choir—her love for music staying with her throughout her life. After high school, Susan spent her life caring for others, both in her work and in the way she lived. As a registered nurse for 43 years, she touched countless lives with her kindness, patience and quiet strength. She took great pride in her work, always striving to provide comfort and dignity to those in her care.
Susan found joy in life’s quieter moments, long drives through the countryside, and returning annually on solo road trips to the place she always called home. Her love for the familiar roads and open skies was only matched by the love she held for her daughter, with whom she shared an incredibly deep and unshakable bond. Their connection was one of life’s rare treasures—built on mutual respect, unconditional support, and an endless well of love.
Susan’s legacy is one of quiet strength, enduring kindness, and a life well lived. She touched the lives of many—patients, friends, and family—with her kind heart and gentle spirit.
She is survived by her beloved daughter Laura, and countless others who were fortunate enough to know her, learn from her, and love her. She was preceded in death by her parents.
