Tim was born in Spencer, Iowa on June 23, 1947 to Paul and Flora Mae Reasoner where he and his siblings, brother Charles and sister Paula, lived until the family relocated to Boulder, Colorado in 1952. He attended Fairview High School in Boulder where he met and then married his high school sweetheart, Janet Louise, on December 18, 1965.
Upon graduation from Fairview in 1965, Tim enrolled at Colorado University to earn a degree in English. His college education was interrupted in 1966 when he answered his draft call and enlisted in the United States Army. Tim dutifully served his tour in Vietnam and after being honorably discharged in 1968, he returned to CU to complete his studies. In 1970, Tim and Janet traveled to the Pacific Northwest and decided to make roots in Washington state, became the proud owner of Tinder Box franchises and ultimately built a home on Cougar Mountain in Issaquah to raise his family which included daughters Carrie and Annalise and sons Nathan and David. Tim, being the wonderful father that he was, would not miss the many dance recitals for Annalise and Carrie, hoops games for Nathan or Friday night lights football for David. Tim spent many memorable years in and around the Seattle area with his family and friends. There were beach picnics at Mukilteo and motor cross races for Team Honda in Mattawa. There were sunny days spent on his boat fishing for sockeye salmon at Lake Washington or Lake Sammamish and snowy ones spent skiing the slopes of Snoqualmie Pass. Tim also spent many hours at his mountain home strumming songs on the guitar (mostly by his favorite band The Beatles) and building model tanks and trains for his incredible true-to-life train layout.
In 2016, after his children were grown and had families of their own, Tim and Janet decided to retire in Sun City, Arizona where Tim continued to enjoy his favorite past times. Cruising the desert roads on his motor bike, often with his brother Charles, and building layouts and models for the Model Railroad Club at the Fairway Community Center or in the comfort of his home. Tim would start his day with a crossword puzzle and often end it with a favorite song on one of his guitars. Tim was also a foodie and known to dabble in the culinary arts, most recently cookies.
Despite the distances, Tim stayed connected to his grandchildren from Chase, Madeline, Wil and Ben (Carrie and Steve) in Annapolis Maryland to Noah and Grace (Nathan and Krista) and Hazel and Ellis (Annalise) in Seattle, Washington to Mila and Amelie (David and Sara) in Ellensburg, Washington.
Tim Reasoner is a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend and to all who knew him and he will be greatly missed.
“ I have fought the good fight,
I have finished the race,
I have kept the faith.”
