Valerie Holt, a woman whose warmth, strength, and unwavering love shaped the lives of everyone she touched, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Pedro “Pete” Valencia and Inez Valencia, as well as her cherished mother-in-law, Donna Holt.
She was born in Austin, Texas, in 1955, where she spent most of her life. In 1987, she met the love of her life, Tim Holt. Together, they raised two children and later welcomed four beautiful grandchildren. Valerie and Tim moved to California in search of new adventures, and eventually settled in Arizona, the place they lovingly called home. Valerie was known for her vibrant presence—when she walked into a room, people noticed. She never backed down from confrontation when it mattered, but she also loved deeply and unconditionally. A faithful servant of the Lord Jesus, Valerie was a true prayer warrior. She was always praying for those in their time of need, and many leaned on her for comfort and spiritual guidance. Spreading the Word of God was her life’s greatest calling, and her faith was the foundation of everything she did. Her second greatest role—one she cherished deeply—was being a grandmother. Valerie loved her grandchildren immensely and poured her heart into every moment with them. Her joy, laughter, and unconditional love will remain forever in their hearts. She had an infectious and unforgettable laugh that could light up a room and lift anyone’s spirit—one of the many ways she made people feel seen, loved, and at ease. She is survived by her devoted husband of 37 years, Tim Holt; her son Ernest Zuniga; daughter Regina Valencia; and daughter-in-law Christine Zuniga. She was a proud and adoring grandmother to Adrian Guzman, Aaron Guzman, Ava Zuniga, and Liam Zuniga. Valerie's love for family extended beyond her immediate circle. She is also survived by her brother Frank Valencia and sister-in-law Juanita Valencia; her sisters Irma Rivera and Joanna Valencia; her sister-in-law Brenda Zuniga; her brother-in-law Ralph Zuniga; and sister-in-law Marsha Harris. She was a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews and held a special place in the hearts of her entire family. Valerie will be remembered for her fierce love, her faith, her strength, her powerful prayers—and the laugh that echoed joyfully wherever she went. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the hearts she held. A private memorial service will be held at a later date in Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you hold your loved ones close, share your stories, and keep Valerie’s spirit alive through kindness, faith, and love.
