Virginia was born on October 28, 1923 in Glenwood, IA, the daughter of Lisle L. and Amber S. Burson Kempton. She married Glen C. Forney on October 15, 1947 in Omaha, Nebraska and they would have been married 69 years this coming October.
Virginia graduated from Camas High School in Camas, WA and later worked in the shipyards there during WWII. It was while she worked as a stenographer in Tabor, IA that she met the love of her life, Glen C. Forney. After they were married she went on to work with him on the farm driving tractors, feeding animals and bailing hay, etc. After leaving the farm, she went on to sell Avon door-to-door, and won an award for being the top sales representative in her area, which she was very proud of. Also while in Iowa she was Girl Scout Leader. They moved to Kansas in 1956. While there, she was a homemaker and a Brownie Leader. In 1961 she and Glen bought Southvue Trailer Park in Derby, Kansas, where she was considered the office manager. After selling the trailer park in 1966 they moved to Wichita where she worked with her daughter, Shiela, in a dry cleaners'; worked in a school library; and also made designer custom drapes by hand from her home.
She was very good at bowling and scored 200 a time or two and was on several bowling leagues. After retiring and moving to Arizona in 1985, she became what could be called a "pool shark". She was very good and was on several teams as well.
She had a strong faith and enjoyed attending church every Sunday with Glen. She was a member of the Crown of Life Lutheran Church in Sun City West. It wasn't until the last 3-5 years that she wasn't able to attend, but the pastor came to her home at Ventana Winds and gave her and Glen communion.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Wilma Williams; and brother, Donald Kempton.
She is survived by her husband, Glen C. Forney of Youngtown, and their three daughters: Gayle (Charles) Stewart of Oklahoma City, OK; Shiela Chapman, of Euless, TX; and Karen (Richard) Warren of Prescott, AZ; six grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
