William Joe Dickinson passed peacefully on February 11, with his wife and daughter by his side. Years of health struggles caught up to him at age 88. Born October 5, 1935, in Veblen, SD. His life was farming, hard work, school and helping with his 6 younger siblings. Bill attended school in Veblen. SD, and in Bridger, Mt where he graduated.
Bill proudly joined the USMC, where he was stationed in Japan. After the military he worked at a variety of jobs including mule packer for the US Forest Service. After years of hard physical labor, he worked in the insurance and investment business, and eventually started his own agency. He spent his working career in Billings, Kalispell and Thompson Falls, Mt.
A true Outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing and being in the mountains of Montana. He was able to share his knowledge of the outdoors with his children, taking them hunting, fishing and camping and building great memories.
Golf became his passion. He loved the game, the challenge and camaraderie with his fellow golfers. Bill’s love of golf and sunshine took them to Sun City, AZ. In the winters and moving there permanently a few years ago.
Bill and Eleanor were the loves of each other's lives, married for 66 years and having 4 children.
Bill was the ultimate gentleman, kindness and integrity defined him. Family, friends. business associates and anyone else he met would agree.
Preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Gladise Dickinson, son Ronald Dickinson, daughter Paula Jo Dickinson, sisters Bonnie Huntley and Cheryl Hohman.
Survived by wife Eleanor Dickinson, son David Dickinson, daughter Jennifer Dickinson, grandson Jeremiah Dickinson, granddaughters Rebecca Griffith, Karlee Hagler (Bryce), great grandchildren, Emily Dickinson, Aria and Ayden Hagler. Brothers Gary Dickinson, Jerry Dickinson, sisters Susan Rambo (Rex), Sandy Woodford (Gary) brother-in-law, Mike Huntley (Bonnie) and numerous much-loved nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 6th at American Lutheran Church 17200 N. Del Webb Blvd, Sun City, AZ. 85373.
There will also be a Celebration of Life Service in Kalispell, Montana, this summer.
