He was born in Boston, Massachusetts on November 27, 1927 to Daniel and Anne Doherty.
He retired from the US Air Force at the rank of Chief Master Sergeant.
He is survived by his brother Paul Doherty of Bonita Springs, Florida.
He will be laid to rest with his wife Ingeborg at Sunland Memorial Park Cemetery Garden of Valor.
