Remembering one of the best men I've ever known.  Smart, reliable, savvy, funny, a friend to all.

I miss 'father'! I miss his pestering me about the University of Colorado Buffaloes. I miss his sense of humor and his brilliance. He was a wonderful man. It was a privilege to have known him. Hope he's watching out for his lovely wife, 'Jane' and his precious son, Brenden (Double E). 

Oh, how I miss this young man--especially during football season. He was such a Buffalo and loved giving me a hard time about my Tennessee Vols. I loved his sense of humor, his love for his family, and his care and compassion. He was a special human being and I loved him!

Although we didn't know him for long . We enjoyed his friendliness and Humor. The Love he showed for our Grandaughter Cerina and the role model he provided for his Grandson Tyler proves he will be missed dearly. 

Bill and I were involved in more than a few regulatory proceedings back in the day often representing clients with differing points of view.  He was a talented, ethical lawyer and I enjoyed my interactions with him--almost all of the time. :) .  A good life.  

It would be difficult to match the accolades and kudos my precious friend has received here. I agree with every word spoken about "the father"! He was so bright, had a vast knowledge of so many subjects, was a clown who made us all laugh and graciously laughed when others weren't as humorous, and never met a stranger. He was kind, thoughtful, caring, tall, adorable, and silly. I loved that about him because he was so tolerant of me. I already miss him and expect to in the future. He was a wonderful father and a PITA husband who was much loved. "Jane" and EE, my love and prayers are with you. RIP, Mr. McEwan. I love you.

Not only was this Incredible man my grandpa, he was also my teacher, my coach, and my inspiration. He always saw the best there was to see in everyone. He brought joy to anyone who had the opportunity to know him. 
I am eternally grateful for everything that he did for me, my wife, and my son. Trenton loved his Papa Bill. Papa Bill was his best friend. Whenever they were together the love and joy between them was electric.  I am honored that my son had the best Papa in the world. We will all miss you. We all love you. Thank you for everything.

On behalf of the Lambda Chi Alpha - Theta Pi chapter, I’d like to share the following message. 

“It is truly heartwarming to see how the fraternity holds so much importance after undergraduate years. The  older alumni brothers helped us create a Brotherhood Contract that outlines the values and guidelines we intend to display  to the rest of campus and follow by at all times. We love hearing from alumni, whether it be to share stories or just to check in on the brotherhood. We are very proud of everything we’re able to accomplish as a fraternity and we are all very proud to be Lambda Chis. Our condolences are with you and your family. May Bill rest easy and forever be a member of ZAX.”


Bill was a beloved member of the Gettysburg College community and I’m proud to continue his legacy there. His work as a Lambda Chi, a Gettysburgian, and a scholar overall will never be forgotten. To quote the Alma Mater he so loved,
“Whenever thy loyal ones gather to waken fond memory,
Our thoughts shall be turned, Alma Mater, old Gettysburg back to thee.”

Bill was a college classmate and fraternity brother, and a member of my wedding party.  I've always considered him a best friend.  Bill had a strong moral compass, never spoke badly about others, possessed an internal drive for excellence in all endeavors, and took great pride in seeing others succeed with his guidance and help.  Even despite his many health issues in recent years, on the phone he'd minimize all of them and we'd laugh together.  He connected me with Moira Rafferty and his granddaughter Grace, for which I will always be grateful.  He and I share devotion to the place we met, Gettysburg College, where he left an indelible mark as leader, scholar and athlete.

Mr. McEwan is directly responsible for an immense amount of joy in my life, as well as a college degree. A random conversation at the front desk of the Littleton YMCA turned into a shared passion for the special community of Gettysburg College. A chat with Bill was never just an exchange of words, but rather the building of a relationship. Genuine, authentic, interesting and interested, Mr. McEwan was an amazing example of the impact that comes from taking time to really engage with people. 

You will be missed forever and always. Thank you for sharing your beautiful family and your love of Gettysburg with me. From this member of the Class of 2007, know that I'll love, I'll defend, and I'll honor the Glorious Orange and Blue for you, Mr. McEwan.
