Wilma E Brinkman

Elaine Koch (pronounced Cook), on August 9, 1928, on a farm near Huron, South Dakota to parents Evan (pronounced Eva, maiden name Stewart) and William Koch. Wilma attended grade and high school in Huron and graduated from Huron College. On December 27, 1949, she married Leonard John Brinkman at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Huron. This is the church where she had taken instruction and converted to the Catholic religion. She and her husband lived in Huron and Aberdeen briefly and moved to Rapid City in 1956. They were in business there until they retired in 1983 and moved to Sun City, Arizona. Wilma was active in Sun City Women’s Golf Organization and Leonard, who was also a member of the Elks and the Knights of Columbus, was active in men’s golf organization and bowling. They were both members of St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church. They have no children. Wilma was preceded in death by her father in 1979, her mother in 1990, and her only brother, Dale Koch, in 2001.

Two days after Wilma’s passing she was joined by her husband, Leonard, 91, who passed away in Surprise, Arizona on July 2, 2015.

Leonard John Brinkman, was born on July 26, 1923, in Beadle County, South Dakota to parents Joseph and Geraldine Brinkman. Leonard was preceded in death by his wife Wilma, his parents, a sister, Mary Alice Martin of Huron, South Dakota, and brothers, Gerald of Seattle, Washington and Edward of Long View, Washington. Leonard is survived by a brother James of Huron, South Dakota.

Wilma and Leonard are also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Leonard and Wilma will be held at 9:30 AM on Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at Sunland Mortuary, 15826 Del Webb Blvd., Sun City, Arizona. A funeral mass will follow at 11:00 AM at St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church, 15800 Del Webb Blvd., Sun City, Arizona. Wilma and Leonard will be laid to rest at Sunland Memorial Park in Sun City, Arizona followed by a reception at Sunland Memorial Park.
