Agnes Wadiak

Agnes Wadiak, 99, passed away on August 22, 2026. She was born on April 1, 1927, in South Plainfield, New Jersey, to loving parents Valentine and Tekla (Tillie) Swiatek. Agnes was a beloved presence in the lives of those who knew her, remembered for a steady kindness, a faithful spirit, and the quiet wisdom she shared through a life well lived. She was a resident of Buckeye, Arizona.

Agnes retired from U.S. Metals Refining Co. in Carteret, New Jersey, where she worked as a Lab Technician—bringing care and diligence to her work, and earning the respect of those alongside her.

Agnes married the love of her life, Edward Wadiak, who passed away in 2018. Together, they built a family and a home grounded in devotion and enduring love.

In New Jersey, Agnes was active in Holiday City, Toms River, where her generous energy found countless ways to serve and connect. She participated in the Women’s Club, Pairs and Squares, and Bocce, and she also shared her time as a Line Dancing Instructor. As Community Chair for dances and holiday events, she helped bring people together with warmth and purpose. With the Ocean County New Jersey Health Department, she coordinated the flu and pneumonia vaccination program at Holiday City—an act of practical care that reflected her deep concern for the well-being of others.

After moving to Arizona, Agnes attended St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church in Surprise, AZ, where her faith continued to be a guiding light and a source of strength.

Agnes was honored as “A Civilian on the Home Front” World War II Honoree for performing with the New Jersey USO from 1940 to 1945, often at Camp Kilmer in Edison, New Jersey, alongside her niece. This recognition stands as a meaningful tribute to her willingness to give of herself in service and support during a pivotal time in history.

Agnes is survived by her sons Mark (Maryann) Wadiak of Buckeye, AZ and Richard (Theresa) Wadiak of Northeast, Maryland; grandchildren Julie (Dave) Murray of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico; Jennifer (Derek) Galatro of Hampton, VA; Brian (Donna) Wadiak of West Chester, PA; Kyle (Morgan) Wadiak of Holly Ridge, NC; and Kevin (Chelsea) Wadiak of Chandler, AZ; and great grandchildren Josh, Abbey, Madison, Carson, Anthony, Bane, Odin, Stryker, Raider, Maverick and Jet; and her many nieces and nephews.

Agnes was predeceased by her husband Edward Wadiak; her son Edward James and his spouse Teresa Wadiak; her great grandson Alex Galatro; her great grandson Titan Wadiak; and her siblings.

Agnes will be remembered with gratitude and affection—for her kind heart, her faithful presence, and the wisdom she offered so naturally to family, friends, and community. Her life leaves a lasting imprint on all who were blessed to know her.
