Allen LeRoy Erickson died Monday November 29, 2021 at Banner Medical Center, his daughter and Son in Law were there as they sang his favorite song, "It is Well with My Soul," as he passed in to Glory.
Allen was born July 25, 1939, the second born to his parents Irvin O. Erickson and Emma Elsie Erickson, In Raymond Minnesota. Allen loved the farm in Minnesota, but Allen left Minnesota at the age of 18 due to the Draft, became an Army Mess Cook, and was stationed near the Kansas City, Missouri area. He received awards for having the "Best Mess" by all the officers he cooked for.
After serving in the Army, Allen decided to stay in the Kansas City Missouri Area, received a Business Degree at Kansas City Business College, and went to work for Jerry Green Chevrolet. It is there he began his 48 year career in the Car Business. Allen received many awards for Best Sales Person, and top rankings for his sales achievements. In 1964 he met the love of his life, Opal K. Fleener (Cindy),and they married February 14, 1965. Their daughter Christina was born shortly after, and son John Allen Erickson was born 3 years later.
Allen loved the car business, loved cars, and the public to whom he served for those 48 years. From John Chezik Buick, to Andy Klein Pontiac, to owning his own Dealership, "Al Erickson's Hillcrest Lincoln Mercury", to his final days of working at Northtowne Lincoln Mercury, he was well known and respected in his field. He was exceedingly skilled and was a teacher and coach to many in that business. The many friends and associates he had in that business are too numerous to count here, and he would want them to know how much he valued their friendship.
Allen loved his family, and extended family. He dearly loved his wife, "Cindy" that he lost in 2019. He grieved her loss deeply, but is gratefully united with her, and his Savior Jesus Christ. Allen was devoted to his family, and was very generous, and loved doing things for his family. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren. He loved spending time in Minnesota with his brothers, sister, and his Nieces, Nephews, Grand-Nieces and Grand Nephews, he cherished those times, and talked about them frequently.
Allen loved taking care of 'His Yard" back in Kansas City (Overland Park, Nottingham Forest) and had the most manicured landscaping! He loved his neighbors, and would mow, and shovel the snow from their homes to show his appreciation for them and their friendship.
Allen and "Cindy" loved their Retirement years, and loved doing so many things together, from watching Wheel of Fortune, to Cosco and Sams Club trips, to enjoying a beverage out in the "Garage". In 2014 they purchased a Lake Condo and a Boat at the Lake of the Ozarks, and had so much fun there with family.
Allen was proud of everything he owned, and took such wonderful care of it all.
After his wife died in 2019, Allen decided to retreat to the sunshine in Surprise Arizona. His family moved him down and set him up in a beautiful home. He was able to enjoy some pre-paradise before his passing.
Allen was preceded in death by his mother Emma Elsie Erickson and his father Irvin O. Erickson, and his beloved wife, Opal Katherine Erickson.
Allen leaves behind his Daughter Christina M. Pinkepank, Son in Love Christopher P. Pinkepank, Son John Allen Erickson and his partner John Beary, Grandson Preston C. Pinkepank and his wife Sara, and Great Granddaughter Lucy Mae Pinkepank, and Grand daughter Alayna C. Pinkepank.
