OBITUARY
Arkie Roselle HUFFMAN
October 5, 1924 – January 16, 2021
Arkie Roselle Patterson Huffman passed away peacefully on January 16, 2021. She was born on October 5, 1924 in the small town of Harrison, Arkansas, in the beautiful Ozark Mountains. At 96 years old she was greeted at the gates of heaven by her parents, two older brothers, two husbands and a large number of friends! Arkie at a very young age started collecting ‘rocks’ of all sizes, shapes and colors. This hobby continued into her eighties. During World War II Arkie became a “Rosie the Riveter” as she worked in the Final Assembly on the B-29 airplane at the Boeing Aircraft Company in Wichita, Kansas. Arkie was very active with the Rosie’s, attending and speaking at events in Arizona and conventions throughout the United States. Those who knew our mother will remember her as a beautiful, selfless woman who loved her family and friends. She never missed a St. Mary’s High School football game and was always available to take her children and their classmates to games throughout the valley. Arkie was very involved & supportive with the St. Louis the King Women’s Group. For years she served on the Board for the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women and traveled the valley promoting the Right to Life. Arkie was able to travel to Rome to visit the Vatican grounds and see Pope John Paul bless one of her grandson’s. Mom devoted her life to her family and was dearly loved by her five children; Jody (Dan) Powers, Bill (Kathy) Patterson, Patricia (Mike) Jennings, René (Mike) Downey and Amy Patterson, 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren,6 great-great grandchildren; Step-son Richard Huffman, step-granddaughter Mary Mahoney step-grandson, son Mark Huffman and 5 step-great-grandchildren. Funeral Mass is scheduled for 11:00 am, February 25, 2021 at St. Louis the King Catholic Church 4331 W Maryland Avenue, Glendale, Arizona. In lieu of flowers Arkie would smile with a donation made on her behalf to: Maggie’s Place (4001 N. 30th St. Phoenix, AZ 85016) or Arizona Right to Life (4633 N. 54th St. Phoenix, AZ 85018). To Arkies Family,
No words can express my sorrow at the loss of your Mother and my friend. I've known Arkie many years from Motorola to SLK Womans club and beyond. She was one of a kind, her love for all of you was beyond measure and I hope it will stay in your hearts forever. I will not forget her, she died on my birthday.
Rest in Gods peace Arkie.

Arkie & her daughter Jody were at every Rosie monthly luncheon! They were so positive & always so loving & caring to all of us attendees.
I have such happy & fun memories of Arkie & her daughter Amy when we all attended the Kansas City Rosie Convention!
My mom Wilma Rees (RIP) and her identical twin sister Amelia really enjoyed their sense of humor and dedication to the Rosie the Riveter members.
Arkie you will be missed!
Jody & Amy thank you for sharing your mom with us!

We loved our precious Aunt Arkie. Our father (her brother Glen Wing) adored her. On a visit to Arizona a few years ago, Aunt Arkie told me how much she loved him as well. I remember commenting how beautiful her handwriting was and similar to our father's lovely handwriting. She said our father (her big brother) had studied and worked hard at penmanship books and had taught her that nice handwriting. It is such a comfort and blessing to know they are reunited in Heaven.

I write this with tears in my eyes, some of sadness and others from excitement because I know she is in a wonderful place with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
I will never forget when I was going through a real rough time in my life that it was relayed to me that she was thinking about me and praying for me. She had no idea I was going through this struggle, but the Lord knew who His prayer warriors were and divinely put it on her heart.
She will be greatly missed.

My heart goes out to Arkie's family and friends. She was one of our strong, independent, spirited Rosies. I first met her when I went to my very first Rosie the Riveter Convention in Phoenix, where she greeted me warmly. Then at the Dearborn, Michigan convention she was the first to greet my husband and me. We both loved her! What a woman!
