Bama Lou Barton, 78, of Southgate, MI passed away on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at the home of her son Rodney in Surprise, Arizona. She was born on March 19, 1943 in Middlesboro, Kentucky to the late Hubert and Hazel (Evans) Honeycutt.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James Ronald Barton, daughter Robin Lee Vasilofski; brother Nolan Lynn Honeycutt; sisters Wilma Jean Sexton, Iva Gail Wilson, Velma Clarece "Re" Carr and Norma Leffew.
Survivors include daughter Deanna (Craig) Rensch of Spring Hill, TN; son Rodney Barton of Surprise, AZ; brothers Bud (Jeanette) Honeycutt, Larry (Carolyn) Honeycutt and Ricky Honeycutt all of Middlesboro, KY; sister-in law Sherry Lynn Barton of Canton, MI; 3 grandchildren with a special mention of her grandson Nick Vasilofski who she affectionately adored; and a host of other family and friends.
Lou grew up in southeastern Kentucky as a Coal Miner's daughter and moved to Southeast Michigan at the age of 18 where she met husband Ron. She became a devoted homemaker who always tended to the needs of her family members. She was an excellent cook, enjoyed watching her soap operas and was a tough competitor to beat at the game Scrabble. She had a warmness that gleamed of love that she always showered onto others. She will be loved and remembered in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
Per Lou's wishes; no funeral services will be performed, she will be cremated and her ashes, along with her husband's ashes, will be placed above their daughter Robin's grave at Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery in Flat Rock, MI.
