Betty Choerok Pyle, born October 28, 1935, in Korea, passed away on October 24, 2026, at the age of 90. A resident of Surprise, Arizona, Betty will be remembered as a beloved presence whose gentle spirit and kind-hearted ways touched all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Betty’s early years began in Korea and her life’s journey later brought her to work at a military Army base in Seoul, where she met William E. Pyle. They were married on December 3, 1953, in Seoul, Korea. In the years that followed, Betty devoted herself to her home and family, becoming a homemaker who created comfort and contentment through steady care, quiet strength, and generous devotion.
Betty’s love was often expressed through the warmth of her kitchen. She became especially known for cooking that drew family together—baking many different pies and especially preparing her special apple pies, and making her southern fried chicken recipe, dishes so cherished that family members requested them again and again for gatherings. Her hands were rarely idle; she also enjoyed knitting and crocheting, creating with patience and gentleness in ways that reflected her thoughtful nature.
A faithful woman, Betty spent time reading her Bible and found comfort in listening to Christian music. She was a member of Christ Church of the Valley in Surprise, AZ, where her faith was nurtured and shared. In both word and example, Betty encouraged those around her to seek a greater faith, leaving a legacy rooted in steady belief and sincere kindness.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband William E. Pyle in 1999 and her daughter Debra Jo Miller in 2013.
Betty is survived by her sons, David E. Pyle (Heidi Pyle) of Menifee, CA and Michael R. Pyle of Surprise, AZ; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and relatives, friends, and all those who will continue to cherish her memory forevermore.
