Lovingly known as Betty Boop, she was born June 27, 1942 in Akron, Ohio. She was a graduate of Camelback High School in Phoenix—where she was Captain of the pom pom line—and attended Arizona State University. She was married to Robert O. Wilson for 57 years, during which they enjoyed fine wines and traveled the world. When he became a practicing orthopedic surgeon, she worked as the bookkeeper for his practice. She was exceptional in mathematics and with anything mechanical, repairing household appliances and even car engines, which came in handy during the years she traveled the country to horse shows with her daughter. She was also a consummate craftsperson, sewing, beading, and quilting for craft shows and gifts for family and friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband; her father Joseph I. Mills and mother Faye Guinn Mills; and her sister, Mary Jo Mehlum. She is survived by her sister, Charlotte Mills Seligman; son Robert C. Wilson and wife Cari Wilson; daughter, Betty Jo (BJ) Wilson Enis and husband Darron Enis; and granddaughter, Olivia, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was an adored mother, grandmother, and sister. Plans for a celebration of her life are tentatively scheduled for June 2024. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
