He was the son of John T. Burns and Bertha Burns (Kennedy), who raised him with strong values of hard work, humility, loyalty, and family—values that remained with him throughout his life.
In 1955, Bob married Claudine Jackson, beginning a marriage that would span more than 71 years. Together, they built a life centered around family, hard work, and the simple joys of spending time together.
That same year, Bob and Claudine purchased their first home in Maryvale, a suburb of Phoenix, Arizona, where they raised their three sons, Kevin, Keith, and Kelly. Bob was a devoted husband and father and took great pride in his family. He later enjoyed the special role of grandfather and great-grandfather, creating many lasting memories with the generations that followed.
Bob worked for nearly 40 years at Goodyear Aerospace as a draftsman and project manager. He was a dedicated and dependable employee who took pride in his work and in providing for his family. Outside of work, Bob loved the outdoors, and some of his favorite memories were made in the White Mountains of Arizona. For many summers, Bob, Claudine, and their boys spent time camping and fishing together. Those trips became a cherished family tradition and provided years of fun, adventure, and memories that his family continues to treasure.
Music was another one of Bob’s greatest joys. A talented guitarist and singer, he enjoyed performing for others and continued sharing his music at local retirement homes well into his 80s. Whether playing for family, friends, or residents at a retirement home, Bob had a gift for bringing people together through music.
Throughout their more than seven decades together, Bob and Claudine shared the joys and challenges of life side by side. Their long marriage was built on love, commitment, and a deep devotion to their family.
Bob will be remembered for his love of family, his enjoyment of the outdoors, his dedication to his work, and his love of music. Most of all, he will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose presence made a lasting difference in the lives of those who knew him.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends. Bob is survived by his wife Claudine, sons Kevin (Linda), Keith (Kati), and Kelly (Dawn), and his 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
