Colleen was born on February 20, 1934, in Silverton, Oregon, along with her brother, William Joerg (preceded her in death). She was raised by her mother, Hazel, in Portland’s Sellwood neighborhood, where she grew up and later graduated from Cleveland High School in 1951.
In 1954, she married Norman J. Stack, and together they raised two children, Deborah and Jeff, while living in the Parkrose area of Portland. Colleen balanced motherhood with a career she took great pride in, working at Cascade Manufacturing before joining Liquid Air & Gas in 1973, where she remained until her retirement.
In 1974, she married Peter Lukich Jr. and became a devoted stepmother to Peter III, Diana, and Jim. Colleen and Pete Jr. shared a life full of adventure, living in Portland and Seattle before becoming snowbirds in Mesquite, Nevada. During this chapter of her life, she learned to play golf and discovered her love for warm, sunny weather.
In 2022, Colleen embraced another new adventure and moved to Surprise, Arizona, to be closer to family and to watch her great-grandchildren grow. She lived independently with a full social calendar at Fellowship Square, a community she greatly enjoyed. Colleen remained deeply connected with friends and family near and far and was grateful for the many visitors who traveled to see her. Sharp as a tack until the very end, she lived a full life—one defined by hard work, sacrifice, laughter, love, and kindness.
She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
Rest easy, Mom, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother. Your work here is done, and it was beautiful.
Colleen was preceded in death by her husbands, Norman J. Stack and Peter Lukich Jr.
She is survived by her children, Deborah Banker (husband Chuck) and Jeffery J. Stack (wife Patti); grandchildren Kori McElrea (husband Brian) and Kevin Simons (wife Michelle); great-grandchildren Aiden and Beckham Simons; stepchildren Peter Lukich III (wife Vicki), Diana Gill (partner Tracy), and Jim Lukich (wife Rhonda); five step-grandchildren; and eight step great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved deeply.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Colleen’s memory to a local food bank—a cause very close to her heart.
