David Gregg Gordon was born on January 13th, 1947, and left for his party with Jesus on October 6th, 2025. His life was full of faith, family, and service. He’s preceded in heaven’s party by stepfather John Hindle, mother Edna Hindle, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Gregg was a man of service to family, community, and country. He served in the Air Force, rotating through Vietnam and Canada for six years. Later, after earning his nursing degree, he joined the Army. He then entered the VA system as a nurse. While living in New Lebanon, Ohio, received his Master’s degree while working as a volunteer EMT. After moving to Peoria, he played an active role in the move of Glendale Church of the Brethren to Peoria, becoming today’s Circle of Peace Church.
For his family, he made himself available for soccer games and dance recitals, or aided an extended family, or stepped into a father-figure role for those he adopted. Gregg didn’t think his table had a limit. There was always room for one more.
Gregg believed in diversity, inclusion, and equality. He supported integration of the military and confronted people who wouldn’t serve a black member of his unit. He welcomed people from all walks of life into work. According to him, women and men were equally smart and could work wherever they wanted.
His faith saved him and others in ‘Nam. He challenged the clean-cut “Christian” view of what hippies were. We’re called to stand for peace, and when the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were called for, he didn’t say good but called for peace. The older he got, the more he asked, “Well, Lord, what's my challenge for today?” He prayed for many people and situations. Like Jesus, Gregg loved the people in his life, from family to friends and his children’s friends, to the caregivers who cared for him.
He moved from Dayton, Ohio, to Peoria, Arizona, at the age of 51. Gregg is survived by his wife, Linda; daughters, Betty-Jo and Mary; his brother, Dan; his stepsister, Lynda; and many nieces and nephews.
Gregg’s interment will be held on October 24th at Sunland Mortuary in Sun City Estuary and Memorial Park at 2 p.m. and his Celebration of Life at Circle of Peace Church on October 25th at 9 a.m.
