

David was born in Long Beach, California, to loving parents David and Erika Hartung Ireland on November 23, 1948. He pursued higher education and received his Bachelor's degree in Accounting from Golden Gate University in San Francisco, California in 1975.
David was an Army veteran who dedicated his career to working as a supervisory accountant for the United States Army Corps of Engineers for over 32 years from which he retired in 2004. His wit and mathematical prowess was a valued characteristic of his.
David married Teresa, and together they happily raised their sons Jared and Prescott in a blended family, cherishing their time together. David's natural skillset and love for flying led him and his wife Teresa on a four year journey to build a RV6 plane. Their stubborn determination toward this accomplishment of building the RV6 led to many beautiful memories travelling across the west coast and throughout the USA creating unforgettable moments. He was a dedicated member of Experimental Aircraft Association, Sacramento RVators, and Aircraft Owners + Pilots Association. He enjoyed his time with Teresa flying, hiking, lawn bowling, and going for a walk enjoying the Arizona mornings and sunsets.

A Celebration of Life will be November 15th, 2025 from 2pm - 4pm at Angela's Kitchen located at 19900 N. Remington Drive Surprise, AZ 85374. The venue is outdoors so please bring a sweater.
David will be remembered for his resilience, wisdom, and the cherished memories he created with his family and friends.
