DeeAnn McEnaney

DeeAnn McEnaney, of Surprise, Arizona, died on July 12, 2026, while in the loving care of Hospice of the Valley and Orchard Pointe Memory Care Center. She passed away in the presence of her husband and 3 sons.

DeeAnn was born on June 11, 1939, in Wentzville, Missouri, the daughter of George and Mary (Andrews) Wilmes. DeeAnn (Sister Mary Jeanne) was a member of the Sisters of the Most Precious Blood, O’Fallon Missouri, for 12 years. After leaving the Convent in May of 1969, she met and fell in love with Morgan J. McEnaney, Jr., in the fall of 1970. After a whirlwind romance, they were married on August 14, 1971, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Desloge, Missouri.

DeeAnn received an Education Degree from Fontbonne College and taught school for several years in Missouri prior to moving with her husband and their family to Illinois, California, Virginia, and Tucson, before settling in Surprise.

She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and sister-in-law. DeeAnn is survived by her husband; their three sons: Morgan “Jim” (Jennifer) McEnaney III, Michael McEnaney and Patrick (Terra) McEnaney; and four grandchildren: Jacob, Avery, Emma, and Matthew McEnaney, all of the Phoenix area. She is also survived by her sisters: Jeanne (Stan) Nielsen and Karen (Butch) Smiley; and brother: Don (Sandra) Wilmes, all of Missouri; and sisters: Elizabeth (Sonie) Mullen of Texas and Marilyn (Dale) Martin of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. Her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Laubenthal, of Iowa, also survive her. DeeAnn was preceded in death by her parents and Kate, her beloved 11-year-old granddaughter.

She was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church in Surprise. A Mass of Resurrection will be held at St. Clare of Assisi, 17111 W Bell Rd, Surprise, AZ 85374, on July 29, 2026 at 10:30 AM with inurnment at Phoenix Memorial Park, Phoenix, Arizona. A family memorial gathering will take place in the fall.
