Erik Christopher Hasbrouck

Erik Christopher Hasbrouck passed away at home on Wednesday March 6, 2019. Erik is survived by his mother Cynthia Hasbrouck of Loveland, Colorado; his father Allen Hasbrouck, Sr and step-mother Nancy Hasbrouck of Huntsville, Alabama; His grandmother Maxine Beckham of Plano, Texas; and his brother Allen Hasbrouck, wife Claudia and his beloved nephew Logan and niece Holly of Surprise. Erik also was blessed with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins to make up an extended, loving family. Erik was born in Anchorage, Alaska May 15, 1972. He attended schools in 5 states and in Germany as his father served in the U.S. Army. He graduated from Austin High School in El Paso, Texas. Erik came of age as the computer and information age blossomed. He moved to Colorado in 1994. He first worked in sales at computer and electronics stores ending up in Best Buy. While there he transitioned from sales to what became the Geek Squad eventually becoming the Geek Squad lead for a store in Longmont, Colorado. He attended advanced Microsoft schooling and expanded his computer and information technology knowledge. In 2014, Erik moved to Surprise, Arizona to be closer to his brother and, most importantly, to be closer to the niece and nephew he adored. He bought the house across the street to be close to Logan and Holly. That proved to be a great move for him. He was hired to work in the IT department for the City of Peoria, Arizona. As always, he gave 100% effort there and was rewarded with promotions and recognition. Erik was an avid sports fan and a reader. He also enjoyed building or modifying his electronics equipment. Most of all, Erik was an animal lover. His three rescue dogs, Gracie, Oscar and Oliver brought him immeasurable joy. Erik’s life will be celebrated with family and friends in late June 2019 in Surprise, Arizona. Remembrances may be made to the Soldiers Best Friend service dog training organization in Peoria, Arizona.

Erik was at my house having dinner. My two sons were chastised and sent to their rooms, the youngest one threw a paper airplane downstairs that Erik caught. When he opened it, there was a picture of the devil with an arrow pointing to it that said, “Mom.” Erik thought it was hilarious and we just laughed for a long while.

Erik gave me a chance, and helped turn my life around. He offered me a job at the Geek Squad in Longmont, and told me "if you're willing to learn, then I'm willing to teach you". I knew nothing about computers, and he gave me a chance to change my life. I would not be where I am today, if not for Erik. He was always very kind, helpful, and full of joy.
