The time it has taken me to write this is not because of a lack of caring, but a lack of ability in knowing how to handle another great loss.  It is a testament to the wonderful husband, great stepfather, father, and kind grandfather he was.  I am forever grateful to Gary for loving my mom with all his heart and taking such good care of her! I know with him, she was truly happy.  He also showed his love for her by extending great respect, and love to her children, and their grandchildren.  It wasn't an easy task- winning our hearts over....but he did.  There isn't a person who met Gary, that didn't know he was all the words I write- his great character is easily seen.  He is dearly missed.  It goes without saying that all our lives are less, and heaven is more.  And I think we're all pretty confident that up there in heaven..... he's making sure the remotes have batteries and the cell phones are plugged in.

           Gary was a very kind man.. Whenever he came in the salon with Barb he seemed so happy to be there (with her). He was very patient and kind.... although I know he was a truck driver you would never imagine that was the case because he was a gentle man.. He had a sense of humor but never loud and boastful .... He will be missed greatly ... May he enjoy his life without pain or struggle to breathe  and whatever heaven has to offer.   Julie 

I will always be grateful to this kind, gentle man who brought  joy to my cherished friend.  He kept my placemats in line and taught me to remove eggs from the center of the carton so the carton would not be unbalanced!  His memory will always bring me smiles - thank you Gary for this special gift of laughter.  Please watch over us all and help us when you can.  All my love....until we meet again.

We are so sad about Gary's passing. From the time we first heard about how you met, we knew you two would make a wonderful couple.  Gary was very easy to talk to and get to know..from your  wedding in Las Vegas, visits in Arizona,  visits in Michigan, we always felt like we were with someone we had known for a long time.  Barb, you and Gary made a great team! We are so happy he got to be home with you..what a long and difficult time for you both. I feel blessed that we were able to see him on Facetime a few times and talk to him then! I think there is a nice sun porch in heaven waiting for Gary. I have so many fond memories of Gary it’s hard to share just one. From helping me with the first house I ever bought to sitting there so many times with my kids playing and being an awesome grandpa! You were always nothing but patient kind and caring to me and my family. We all love and miss you so much. Thank you for everything you did  for us. You will never know how much you were loved 

Oh Gary,
You have given my best friend, Barb, your true love for seventeen years.  I remember her sharing with me the new love of her life shortly after meeting you.  Soon I'd meet you and the mutual caring for one another was ever present.  In 2003, I was thrilled  to be Barb's maid of honor, but it was really my honor!  Unfolding over the next years were those trips you'd drive to the California coast to cool off.  You and Barb were like kids bringing favorite games and treats...it would bring me many smiles. Our times always showed your true love for her, and my appreciation of just the really good guy you were.  If true happiness could be sold in bottles...you two would be millionaires!  My memories of you will always be warm and tender as the man you were.  You always brought her such a loving adoration as I can still hear you say, "hey Babe"...yes, truly your love spilling out to her.  Gary thanks always for our friendship and everlasting memories that will remain within my heart.

We came to know you through our long time friend Barbara G.  Your commitment to her grew on us over the years, and we always looked forward to our times together.  You made us feel welcomed in your home, and when you visited us in California and more recently in Michigan we shared many good times and memories.  You will be  remembered fondly as a first class guy full of love for your Gianatassio family, and you will be missed greatly as a good and faithful friend by us too.

Love is many different things to different families.... now “true love” is marrying a beautiful and lovely women and then BAM.... you have 4 new children, 3 daughter in laws, 1 son in law and 14 grand kids! Each of whom you love  in the most uniquely Gary way!  Being there for anyone who needs you! Walking the kids to the bus stop, and being there waiting when they get off the bus! Taking out the trash and keeping things ever so tidy... just like we like it - right Gary!!! Having remote control “control” battles with Adam!!! I would just giggle! I loved watching you with the girls when you didn’t know I was watching..... the snuggles and sweet way you loved them made my heart full! We will miss the way you loved us! We will remember you lovingly and will cherish the memories we have and hold them close in our hearts forever. Thank you for loving us! Thank you for being a part of our big crazy family!!! Always loved and never forgotten! 

As I look back, it seems like I've been looking up to my brother, following my brother's footsteps for quite a while.

He first started working with a paper route for the Detroit News. I did the same thing.

He joined the U.S. Air Force & got into electronics. I did the same thing.

Then, maybe, he started following me. I got married.  He did the same thing.

As life would have it, things would move in different directions & that's OK, because you were a good brother to me.

Sadly, Gary lost his first wife. But as a saving grace, Gary found Barb & got married on my wife's birthday.

Gary & I would stay apart in miles, but could always connect with the technology of computers & phones.

We will both miss you, very much. May you be at peace.

 Seventeen years ago I met this great guy  on Match.com. We had our first meeting for breakfast at the 5 & Diner on 27th Ave. It was ❤️ at first site! From that day forward we have been a team.  Married 11/15/2003,  had a lovely home built in Surprise, AZ and have spent the next 16 years with weddings, family and adding 12 grandchildren to an existing 3. Gary was a gentle man, a loving and demonstrative husband, father and grandfather. All our kiddos were all loved equally be they by blood or not. He loved his poker and we’ve spent many a weekends in the past in Vegas. Our travels consisted of trips to visit family and friends from Coast  to Coast. Last Spring after a trip to Austin and Nebraska City, Gary started slowing down with difficulty in breathing and weakness in his lower extremities. After a year of hospitalizations, nursing homes, COVID and no specific diagnosis....until a last possibility of ALS he wanted to come home. Gary passed peacefully Christmas Eve morning.  Loved by us all, always a smile and a happy to see you.....I’ve been blessed to have him a part of our lives and  to have had the Heart of this special man!

Gianatassio, Tina Noel Dia, Adam  P. Gianatassio, David P. Gianatassio, Brother, Gregg Reber and Grandchildren, Matthew Teinert, Domenic, Angelica, Lauren, Katie, Rachel , Alec, Holly, Brynn, Sofia, Avery, Piper, Brody, Amelia and Landon.

Gary and Barb have been our neighbors for 16 years and we couldn’t of asked for better neighbors and friends.  We are sorry for Barbs loss and we will miss Gary’s smiling face. Our love went with him and is still here for Barb.

My memories of Gary will always be precious to me. A wonderful
husband to my sister Barb. Always with a warm genuine smile that said, happy to see you. Taken from us far too early. ❤️
