Died peacefully after struggling with Parkinson’s Disease. Preceded in death by first wife, Maxine (Gothier), infant sons Charles and Timothy; sister Evelyn Wilson and son-in-law, Kurt Baufield. Survived by loving wife Judy (Small), children Michael (Diane), Shelli (Kurt Lawton), stepsons; Jeffrey (Patty) and Douglas; Grandchildren, Michael (Lisa), Megan (Aaron), Ryan, Kelsey and Kylie and great-grandchildren Kurt and Eleanor Baufield. He is also survived by brother Howard and sisters Marie Rocheleau and Geraldine Herman.
Gerald Charles Heck, a twin, was born in Northfield, MN on 12/23/1930. He attended McKinley Public and St. Bridget’s Catholic grade schools and graduated from North High School in Minneapolis in 1949 where he played football, baseball and basketball.
Gerry was employed by the Honeywell Company in Minneapolis in1950. He was promoted to management in 1958 and spent the ensuing years in administrative and supervisory positions in the Defense Systems Group. Gerry was the superintendent of facilities at the time of his retirement in 1989. Gerry served in the Army during the Korean War with the Occupation Forces in Trieste, Italy from 1951-1953. He served with the 88th Reconnaissance Company headquartered in Duino, Italy, near Treiste.
Gerry married Maxine Gothier on September 15, 1951 in Minneapolis, MN. They made their home in Brooklyn Center, MN where they raised their two children Michael and Shelli. They were active in the community until the time of Maxine’s death in 1987. Gerry married Judy Small on December 1, 1990 in Lakeville, MN. Gerry immediately came to love Judy’s two sons, Jeff and Doug. Gerry and Judy made their home in Lakeville, MN until they retired to Sun City Grand, AZ where they made many friends and enjoyed many years of travelling.
In his younger years Gerry enjoyed playing softball, fishing trips with his friends and was an avid golfer until the effects of Parkinson’s became prohibitive.
On April 05, 2019, a Visitation will be held in the Mausoleum at Gethsemane Cemetery, 8151 42nd Avenue, North, in New Hope, Minnesota, from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM.. The Memorial Service will be at 10:00 AM.
