Patty, my heart goes out to you and the boys and their families during this most difficult season of sorrow.
Once upon a time, in a moment when my role was to be strong, I slipped and had a moment of particular pain and weakness. I thought no one was paying attention and that I had gotten away with it. But, Howard noticed. He offered a handful of words to comfort me. It was a very small moment, but it is further evidence of his empathetic nature towards others. So, when I think of him, it will be this part that I will remember most fondly.
Love to you all.

To my dearest friend Patty and sons, Ray and I are deeply sorry for your loss, but also we are rejoicing that Howard is now with our Lord and in a perfectly healthy body and mind. The memory that sticks in our minds the most is how very generous Howard was with everyone . He never hesitated to help anyone who was in need. Rest in heavenly peace Howard. Love Kim and Ray

One of the biggest blessings I have had in my life was meeting the Olson's in Mt Carroll, and of course all of those memories involve Dad (Howard).
He had his very own way to teach us things, and believe me when I say that all those advises worked out to be wise life lessons that echoed in the back of my head when I needed the most.
I am and will still be thankful for giving me the opportunity to be his son physically for a year, forever in my heart.
I will embrace our re-connection messages forever.
May God give confort to Mom, Jeff, Chris, Howie, Doug and P. J.
We will meet again.

We are going to miss you Howard, specially the boys. They loved it when you came to visit because they knew they could eat all the cookies and ice cream they wanted. I’m going to miss going to Laughlin with you Patty and Howie. Going to every casino and buffet with you and creating wonderful memories. You will forever be missed.

My Dad was the strongest man I have ever known. I will forever miss calling him and talking to him to get his opinion on matters . He would always say if you really believe in it and want it, go for it! He was volunteer of the year for the Salvation Army and would go out of his way to help people in need. He would give anything he had for us when the chips were down and was a stand up guy who called it like it is. There is a memory popping into my head right now of being out on the farm in Mt Carrol retraining a horse that was abused that we took in to help together. We would hand feed her grain and worked with her to get her to understand commands that did not involve whip training. Her name was Jaime and she was one fast quarter horse! Miss you so much Dad.
