Bishop Dr. Ignatius Nwachukwu Nwosu of Nnewi, Nigeria passed away on Wednesday, January 10th at the age of 86. Ignatius was born on July 19th, 1937 in Nnewi, Nigeria where he grew up in Ogoja and Nnewi, Nigeria.
He graduated from Scotland Yard in England under the Nigerian Police Force department. Ignatius also received a PHD in Theology from Episcopal Church in Boston in 2013.
He worked as the Lagos Inspector of Police, Police Detective, Bishop, and was a Foster Grandparent Boston.
Ignatius was a Born Again Christian and attended the Potter’s House and Anthem Church in San Marcos, CA. He was actively involved in Love Revival Fellowship in California and Arizona, Victory Fellowship Ministries in Boston, Power of Prayer Ministries in Boston, Zoe International Ministries in Boston, and Episcopal Church in Lagos.
Ignatius was an avid Christian author and historian who wrote several books. He wrote Nnewi History and Nde Ichiakwa Mythology and the History of the Igbos. Ignatius also authored two other Christian books. He was an avid swimmer and was a loving family man.
Ignatius was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Victoria Nwosu of Chief Nwosu Compound, and his siblings Lily and Christiana.
He is survived by his wife Monica Nwosu, brother Professor ABC Nwosu and Mr. Emeka Nwosu, his children: Joe Nwachukwu, Angela Ogwougwa, Bethel Onwuta, Anointed Eziokwu, Guy Nwosu, Jen Nwosu, Wini Okonkwo, Jackie Ihejirika, Henry Nwosu, Winston Nwosu, Mordecai Nwosu, Wendy Nwosu, Sarah Nwosu. His grandchildren: Maliel Nwachukwu, Gabi Nwachukwu, Gail Nwachukwu, Daniel Ogwougwa, Michael Ogwougwa, Blessing Ogwougwa, Jada Onwuta, Kacee Onwuta, Buchi Onwuta, Ona Onwuta, Shama Eziokwu, Exalted Eziokwu, Shadai Eziokwu, Fortress Eziokwu, Nehemiah Onujiogu, Michelle Ihejirika, Iva Ihejirika, Jeremy Nwosu, Shiloh Joe, and Daniel Joe.
Ignatius cared deeply for his grandchildren and was always patient with them.
The family would like to appreciate his wife, his children, and his grandchildren for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in their final days.
