Jack was born in White Earth (Stanley) North Dakota in 1931. In his youth, he loved playing baseball, football and running the one hundred yard-dash. After graduating from High School, he went to work for the Great Northern Railroad as a signal operator. Jack enjoyed his job at the railroad; nevertheless, following a close encounter with an oncoming train, he was compelled to reconsider his career path.
Jack joined the Airforce in 1951. After several state side posts, he was deployed to Korea. Armistice was announced while he was crossing the Pacific, so he stayed in Japan for the remainder of his military service. Jack returned to North Dakota where he met the love of his live Eleanor Ronning. They were married in June 1956 in Minot, ND.
While raising his young family, Jack continued his education at Minot State College where he earned a degree in Education. He taught school for a few years before transitioning to management with the K-mart Corporation. He retired in 1996 and enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his family and his beloved wife Eleanor who passed away in 2022.
Jack died comfortably at home surrounded by family on July 15, 2025. He is survived by his brother; Bruce Bolyard (wife, Patricia Bolyard) of North Dakota.
